European Heritage Days - Guided tour of the Saint-Nicolas church in Thionville-sur-Opton

Come and discover on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September from 2pm to 5pm, the recently restored Saint-Nicolas church in Thionville-sur-Opton, with several remarkable features: 17th-century tabernacle, 15th-century bas-relief, 16th-century funerary slab.

Located in the hamlet of Thionville-sur-Opton, in the commune of Maulette, the Saint-Nicolas church is a small, unpretentious building. Built between the 1821th and XNUMXth centuries, it has had a turbulent history. It was threatened with demolition several times between the revolutionary period and the XNUMXth century. All that remains today is the choir of the church, a volume to which it was reduced in XNUMX due to the sanitary state of the building. The location of the missing nave is evoked by the trees planted in front of the choir. Little by little abandoned, the church sometimes served as premises for the town hall during the XNUMXth century.
