European Heritage Days - Guided tour "The Ghost Castle"

For the European Heritage Days, join us on Saturday, September 19th from 17:30 pm to 18:30 pm in Boinvilliers for a guided tour of the village of Boinvilliers.

"Can we revive a heritage that time and men thought they had erased?"
In Boinvilliers, the answer is written in stone and collective memory. While the Bréthe seigniorial estate may seem to belong to the past today, this guided tour invites you to resist oblivion and reimagine the forgotten face of our village.

The starting point for this memorial resurrection lies in an act of resistance against time: a plan drawn 126 years ago (in 1900) by the village schoolteacher. Thanks to this precious document, we will revive together the history of a little-known building dating from 1596, once flanked by two pepperpot towers and a magnificent 10-meter-wide moat.

From the hidden corners of the village to the original site of the manor, this walking tour invites you to follow the thread of architectural transformations and to interpret some vestiges still clearly visible in our environment. We will track down clues to this endangered heritage until the final stop of the tour: the discovery of genuine sculpted stones, saved from the demolition of the castle and cleverly reused by the builders of yesteryear. A historical stroll to understand how the past, in secret, engages with our daily lives.
