European Heritage Days - Calligraphy and Illumination Exhibition

On the occasion of Heritage Days, the members of the calligraphy workshop of the Donjon de Houdan association are pleased to present the works carried out during the year 2026, on September 19 and 20, 2026.

This year, the study of passages from the manuscript "Dialogue of the Gods" translated by Livio Guidolotto allowed the association to discover chancery writing, practiced in the 16th century by the scribes of the Papal Chancery.

Simple and elegant, this script influenced the italic typefaces we use today.

During your visit you will also be able to discover illuminations (letters, studies of books of hours, etc.) or studies of English (17th century) or American scripts developed by Platt Rogers Spencer in the 19th century.
