Presentation

The Domaine de Dampierre in the Chevreuse valley reveals the beauty of its park and gardens attributed to the landscaper Le Nôtre. A place that is both natural, historical and cultural.

Dampierre Castle is a classical-style French castle located in the hollow of a valley, against the Chevreuse valley, in the commune of Dampierre-en-Yvelines.

Built in the last quarter of the 1663th century by the Versailles architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart, it was home to Kings Louis XIV and Louis XV. But it is above all the property of the Albert de Luynes family from 2018 to XNUMX.

The castle was registered as a historic monument in 1928.

English-style visit to the park:

- Beautiful walks await you in the English-style park now reopened to visitors, to the delight of the public and lovers of the Château!

- This English-style park designed by Le Nôtre is located behind the island where a superb 18th century pavilion stands, created on the model of the French Pavilion of Louis XV at Trianon.

- This park with a collection of rhododendrons, camellias and bulbs, where the canals bring freshness under the oaks, is equipped with picnic tables and areas, where you can relax in the shade of the century-old trees.

"The path of the dragonflies"
Find the “Dragonfly Path”. It is a discovery journey between the biodiversity and the history of the Domaine. To do this, QR codes located at key points in the gardens will guide you to discover the environmental richness of the fauna, flora and history of the Domaine de Dampierre-en-Yvelines.

And a whole host of activities!

- Carriage rides or pony rides
The wild park of more than 300 hectares enclosed by walls, populated by wild boars and deer, in a forest with XNUMX-year-old oaks, will once again be accessible to visitors. During the season, they will be able to discover the fauna and flora of the wild park in carriages pulled by large American mules, and take photos.

- Spend a moment of complicity between you, your child, and the animal, during a hike on the back of a Shetland pony guided by you.

- Rides in Rosalies, boats and electric carts
In the paths of the gardens and the park around the castle, vehicles are available for rental so you can discover the beauty of the site at your own pace. Boats are also available for rental to enjoy a peaceful moment of relaxation in the heart of the gardens with the castle as a backdrop.

The Bosquet des Chimères and Raconte-moi Dampierre [guided tours]
