Presentation

The Musée de l'Ancienne Sparterie, installed on an industrial site rehabilitated into a multi-purpose location (library, museum, reception room, etc.) offers collections of historical and archaeological objects from the history of Dammartin-en-Serve.

Founded in 1839, Sparterie de la Maison Lemaire developed an industry whose technical know-how was recognized worldwide among textile manufacturers for 135 years.
Installed on the site of the factory in 1994, the Museum of Ancienne Sparterie offers the opportunity to discover this old craft through preserved tools and several exotic and even unexpected creations, woven works in sisal or coconut.
The place also offers historical insight into the heritage of Dammartin-en-Serve (Neolithic occupations, Gallo-Roman dwellings, etc.).
